The traditional village of Akontisma, close to Nea Karvali, once again hosted its international festival of traditional dances, drawing folk ensembles from several countries alongside local cultural associations. Organisers describe the event as an opportunity for cultural exchange through music and dance, with performances also staged in other parts of Kavala over the festival's run. The event has become a fixture of the city's late-summer cultural calendar, alongside Cosmopolis and the closing weeks of the Philippi Festival.
