The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace's Public Health and Social Welfare Directorate for the Kavala Regional Unit announced that, from Wednesday, 1 July through Monday, 30 November 2026, it would process the issuance of new disability circulation cards and the renewal of existing ones for residents entitled to free transport benefits. The extended five-month window is intended to give eligible residents ample time to complete the paperwork without a last-minute rush. The Kavala Prefecture Disability Association has previously raised broader concerns about accessibility in the city, including for people using such cards to access public transport and parking.
