The event draws hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers for a route through the region's rural landscape, part of a broader calendar of outdoor and athletics events the city hosts each autumn, alongside a separate urban race through Kavala's central streets, squares, port and Old Town alleys. Tourism officials say the growing calendar of running and cycling events has helped position Kavala as a destination for active, outdoor-focused visitors beyond the traditional summer beach season.
