During the twelfth session of Kavala's City Council, held on the evening of Monday, 25 May 2026, deputy mayor for economics Ioannis Promousas confirmed the municipality would continue charging the increased tuition fees at the Municipal Conservatory, despite the Article 152 oversight committee's earlier ruling annulling the increase. Pressed directly by opposition councillor Anastasia Iosifidou on whether the municipality was still collecting the higher fees, Promousas answered that it was. Mayor Theodoros Mouriadis defended the original increase, arguing that under the law, 70 percent of the conservatory's expenses must be covered by tuition and only 30 percent by municipal subsidy.
