A session of Kavala's municipal community placed the Cosmopolis 2026 festival and a set of proposed new pedestrian streets at the centre of its agenda. Officials say expanding car-free zones in the city centre is intended to make the annual cultural festival easier to navigate for the large crowds it draws each year, while also improving the everyday walking experience in the historic district. The pedestrianisation proposals are expected to be finalised ahead of the festival's summer dates.
