Kavala hosted the first edition of Kavala Festival on 25 and 26 July 2026 at the Municipal Park of Faliro, organised jointly with FORUM AE, Germany's NürnbergMesse exhibition group, to mark 27 years since the city's official twinning with Nuremberg in 1999. The free two-day event featured Greek and German breweries and traditional products alongside live music from Chainides and Ivi Adamou. Organisers noted that new direct flights on Marabu Airlines connecting Nuremberg and Kavala made it easier for German visitors and officials to attend, reinforcing the festival's role in strengthening the two cities' three-decade friendship.
