A tobacco warehouse originally built in 1885 to serve the Ottoman trading monopoly on Megalou Alexandrou Street was purchased by two brothers in 1986 and, over the following decade, fully renovated into a shopping mall. The three-level building retains its original square footprint and internal courtyard, now roofed with a light transparent shelter that serves as the atrium for the retail centre. Business owners in the building say the conversion remains a reference case for how Kavala's industrial architecture can be given a viable commercial future without losing its historical character.
