Officials gathered in Kavala to mark the opening of Gate 12, a contemporary cultural venue, alongside the completion of restoration efforts on the northeastern gateway, triangular tower, and connecting structures of the city's historic fortifications. The initiative received approximately 1.26 million euros in funding through regional development resources administered by the East Macedonia and Thrace region. Culture Minister Lina Mendoni and Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis were among those attending the ceremony. The dual project aims to preserve Kavala's architectural heritage while creating modern cultural infrastructure for residents and visitors. The restored fortification elements represent key defensive structures from the city's historical past.
