The mountain village of Lekani holds its annual potato festival on the first Sunday of September, organised by the local cultural association "The Roots" to celebrate a crop the area has long been known for. Village women prepare the potato in a range of traditional dishes while dance troupes perform Pontic customs reflecting the heritage of many families in the area, who trace their roots to Greek communities from the Black Sea region. The event closes with a programme of Pontic and folk music from local performers.
