Mayor Theodoros Mouriadis, first elected in 2019 and re-elected on a PASOK-KINAL ticket, used the start of the year to lay out the municipality's agenda. Officials say road maintenance, upgrades to public lighting and expanding e-government services for residents will be priorities, alongside continued support for the Philippi Festival and other cultural institutions that draw visitors to the city. The mayor's office also confirmed that closer cooperation with the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace will continue on transport and infrastructure projects linking Kavala to Thessaloniki and Xanthi.
