Kavala's City Council has approved temporary nightly pedestrianisation of Kriezi and Agiou Nikolaou streets from 1 July through 31 August 2026, closing the roads to vehicles between 9pm and 6am. The measure is aimed at easing congestion in the Old Town's café and restaurant district during the busiest summer months, giving pedestrians more space in an area that draws heavy foot traffic after sunset. A similar temporary pedestrianisation was approved for a street in Krinides during the summer season.
