Officials from Greece's tax authority are expected to arrive in Kavala by late September to examine irregularities at the municipal water utility. The investigation follows allegations of embezzlement discovered in the company's accounts.

Inspectors from the Hellenic Independent Authority for Public Revenue plan to conduct a comprehensive review of the Kavala Water Supply Company (DEUAK) in the coming weeks, according to remarks made by company president Apostolos Chronis during a radio interview with state broadcaster ERT. The audit is being launched to clarify circumstances surrounding a significant financial discrepancy uncovered in the utility's treasury. Chronis emphasized that while legal proceedings may proceed slowly, investigations continue methodically. The examination is expected to provide answers regarding the handling of public funds at the water authority.
